Triangular roof terrace- Shoreditch

Date: January 2004

Type: Roof Gardens

Client: Private Client

This tiny triangular roof terrace was overlooked by offices and surrounded with air conditioning units and ducts from the restaurant below. Previous attempts to disguise these elements with trellis panels only added to the mess and made the space feel dark and small.

The deck and bench are constructed from the hardwood, Ipe. Perspex panels were attached to the side wall with stainless steel fittings, screening the office but allowing them light. The panels are lit from behind at the base at night.

A marine ply panel was painted and fitted with a simple stainless steel water feature to hide a huge metal chimney.

Light weight galvanised planters were specially made to fit the area.
